When to go

June is, even by Nashville standards, chock full of musical events: the CMA Music Festival, the Ryman Bluegrass series and (in nearby Manchester) Bonnaroo. For fair rides, farm animals and fried food, swing through in September, when Nashville hosts the Tennessee State Fair. Visit during November and you may cross paths with the stars in town for the annual Country Music Awards.

  Catch direct flights from across North America to Nashville International Airport, on the edge of the city; most international flights have a stopover in a major US hub first.
