Luxury holidays in St Moritz
Sitting high in the Swiss valley of Engadin, St Moritz is the snow-tipped screensaver speckled with canary coloured buildings and gliding gondolas that every ski enthusiast dreams of gracing. But beyond the glitz and glamour brought by Chanel and Hepburn, this ski resort town is at heart a welcoming – if not slightly zany – winter wonderland. Boot up and head to Corviglia, or if you’re a beginner you may want to take start slow on Celerina. Don’t dart if you’re not a skier, St Moritz has more than just snow-capped pistes and aprés bars, so ditch the skis and hike up the Morteratsch Glacier for panoramic views over the tumbling valleys or roam round larch-lined Lake Sils.
When to go
St Moritz is a year-round destination; cross-ski at Sali Maria during winter or swim through its bath-warm waters during summer. If you’re hoping to catch the ski season be sure to visit between December and April, and don’t miss out on the Nomad St Moritz art and design fair if you’re there during March.
