When to go

Akagera National Park charms year round: naturally, the dry seasons (June to September; December to February) are best for walking safaris and trekking, but birdwatching, fishing and boat safaris call in rainy seasons (March to May; October to November).

Getting there

    Touch down at Kigali International Airport; from here, it’s roughly two-and-a-half hours’ drive to Akagera National Park. Alternatively, a helicopter transfer takes about 20 minutes.

  • Automobiles

    You’ll most likely want to put someone else in the driving seat, and your camp will be able to arrange road or helicopter transfers between the airport and safari stays.
