Luxury holidays in Cassis

Pretty port town Cassis is an authentic corner of Provence: it’s framed by dramatic cliff-framed calanques, and its waterfront promenade, pétanque court and strings of beaches are suitably Gallic. Rumour has it, Brigitte Bardot tried to buy its castle, before settling on the one in Saint Tropez — but Cassis delivers bombshell-worthy polish all the same.

When to go

Crowds and temperatures pick up over summer, but you’ll get balmy weather with quieter beaches in May and September.

Getting there

  • Trains

Cassis station lies a few kilometres north of the city centre, about a 10-minute drive away. Rail routes from Marseille, Nice and Paris call here.
