Looking for a real adventure? Peru’s the perfect place, with rainforests, mountains and ancient cities waiting to be explored, from your base at one of our favourite boutique hotels. The Amazon and Andes drape across country, and hiking the Inca trail to the citadel of Machu Picchu is a must. Set up camp in one of our Peruvian boutique boltholes and you’ll have somewhere stylish to retire after a day of adventuring.

Destinations in Peru

  • A towering cathedral, museums stuffed with Incan treasures and bright-white Baroque buildings double down on the drama of Arequipa’s volcanic neighbours, but palm-shaded plazas and cobblestone streets make sure the city soothes just as easily as it stuns.
  • The gateway to Machu Picchu and an Incan capital, this ancient city is a time capsule of fortress ruins, colonial plazas and alpaca-herding locals.
  • No roads lead to Iquitos. We’re not joking: this buzzing city may be ‘the capital of the Peruvian Amazon’, but with thick jungle looming on all sides, it’s so remote that it can only be reached by plane or boat.
  • Straddling the borders of southern Peru and western Bolivia, Lake Titicaca – the cradle of Incan civilisation – is home to dramatic landscapes, colourful art colonies and postcard-perfect sunrises…
  • Lording it over the Pacific from its clifftop throne, Lima – the City of Kings – wears many faces, from the majestic to the messy.
  • Sun, surf and ceviche: if these words are holiday essentials, Máncora in Peru’s north-westerly Piura region might just be the patch of the Pacific for you.
  • Ollantaytambo may be often overlooked in favour of its wondrous western neighbour, Machu Picchu, but this small Peruvian town is emerging from the Sacred Valley’s shadows in its own right.
  • Connecting the terraced villages of Pisac and Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley was once at the centre of Incan civilisation.
