Luxury holidays in Southern Highlands

A world apart from its buzzy state capital of Sydney, the Southern Highlands in New South Wales star national parks, cool-clime wineries, and a scattering of bucolic outposts such as populous Bowral and the historic village of Berrima. Outdoorsy types will enjoy hiking, horse riding or freshwater swimming. The Don Bradman Museum and International Cricketing Hall of Fame in Bowral should be on the scoreboard for sports fans.

When to go

The Southern Highlands are a year-round destination, however, most of the area's events take place in spring and autumn, including calendar highlight, the Tulip Time Festival.
