When to go

The Hague’s coastal North Sea setting brings cool temperatures and regular rainfall, but the city has enough indoor attractions to compensate. July and August are the warmest months, but March and April are often the driest.

Getting there

• Planes

  Rotterdam The Hague is the closest airport, around 15 minutes away by road, depending on where you’re staying in the city. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is closer to a 35-minute drive.

• Trains

  To travel by rail to The Hague, you can take the Eurostar as far as Rotterdam, with onward 30-minute rail services to Den Haag Centraal. By air, touch down at Schiphol Airport, then pick up a direct train that’ll shuttle you into the city in around 30 to 40 minutes.

• Automobiles

  You won’t need a car to explore this Dutch metropolis of trams and bicycles, which also has excellent rail connections; but if you are planning to drive, note that The Hague has a low-emissions zone with some vehicle restrictions.
