When to go

October to March is the prime time to go – drier days make for happy hiking, plus the clearest mountain views. In April, you can join the festivities ringing in the Nepali New Year.

Getting there

  • Planes

    It’s just a 30-minute flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, with Himalayan views as the in-flight entertainment.

  • Automobiles

    Nepal’s rugged terrain can make driving slow-going. You won’t be able to rent a car to drive yourself, but private cars and jeeps complete with their own chauffeur are available for hire.
