The summer months of June through August are when Portland is at its sunniest and warmest. Spring and autumn are quieter, and cooler temperatures by the coast make it an ideal time to explore the city.

  Connections from most major US hubs, such as Chicago, New York City and Washington DC, arrive at Portland International Jetport. The nearest airport for direct international routes is Boston Logan, less than two hours away from Portland by road.

  Amtrak’s Downeaster route, between Brunswick and Boston, calls at Portland daily.
