Luxury holidays in Skeleton Coast
Like a grain of sand that looks completely different on closer inspection, the seemingly arid wilds of the Skeleton Coast National Park are a rich seam of diverse landscapes and wildlife to mine. A masterclass in diversity, the Kaokoveld encapsulates wild Atlantic coastline, wind-sculpted dunes and game-drawing dry riverbeds.
When to go
The Skeleton Coast is a year-round destination, with the dry season from May to October bringing the most reliable and comfortable conditions for game spotting, and temperatures peaking around December and January.
Getting there
-
Planes
Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako is your nearest international airport; from here, your safari camp can arrange onward air transfers to your basecamp. -
Automobiles
Although it’s technically possible to drive from Windhoek through the Namib desert to the Skeleton Coast National Park, it’s not advisable to make the eight-hour 4WD trip under your own steam; you’re better off sticking to organised connecting flights.
