Luxury holidays in Lake Bohinj
When to go
Like many an Alpine destination, Lake Bohinj has two main seasons – winter and summer – with autumn and spring much quieter and subject to some off-season closures. From mid-May, meadow blooms draw nature lovers to town for the two-week-long International Flower Festival. For lake-based adventures, June to September brings the best of the weather; winter season in the Julian Alps runs from December until the end of February.
Getting there

Planes
Ljubljana is the nearest international airport, an hour away by road; Trieste in Italy is next in line, a two-and-a-quarter-hour drive away. -
Automobiles
Whether you need a car for your Slovenian sojourn will depend on your mode of choice for exploring your lakeside locale: walking and cycling may be enough to occupy you, but if you’re planning days out on all sides of the lake, you’ll need wheels.
