Ski bunnies will want to visit between December and March; nature-lovers may prefer spring or summer for verdant vistas and wildflower meadows.
Getting there
Planes
Turin Airport is a 90-minute drive from most of the Aosta Valley’s ski spots, including Cervinia and Courmayeur (which is the same distance from Geneva Airport); both resorts are two hours away by car from Milan Malpensa Airport.
Trains
Trenitalia offers daily trains from Aosta station to Turin; routes take two-and-a-half hours and require one change, in Ivrea.
Automobiles
You’ll want a car to access the Aosta Valley’s resorts, plus Courmayeur and Cervinia are an hour’s drive from each other, should you want a change of (ski) scenery.
