Visit Tipperary from spring to summer when it’s at its most lush and emerald; or in August or September to catch the harvest before October’s rains start to pour.
Getting there
Planes
Cork airport is about an hour’s drive away, Shannon 90 minutes and Dublin about two hours – all have good links throughout Europe and Shannon and Dublin further afield.
Trains
Thurles train station is close to Tipperary’s main attractions, and it’s on the Dublin to Cork line so you can easily cross the country.
Automobiles
A car will come in handy for hopping between towns and cruising through country expanses where no (or at least few) buses go.
