When to go

Mykonos goes to sleep between November and February. July and August are the island’s high season, so expect endless parties and crowded beaches. Spring is quieter, but the in-the-know opt for September and October for warm waters and thinning-out crowds.

Getting there

  • Planes

Flights from Athens touch down at Mykonos Airport year-round, and there are seasonal direct options from European cities including London, Manchester, Paris and Zürich.
  • Boats

Reach Mykonos by ferry from either Piraeus or Rafina, both in the Athens area. You can also island-hop by ferry to Santorini, Crete and more.
  • Automobiles

Chora’s labyrinthine streets are pedestrianised, but hire a car to explore the island’s hidden beaches and inland villages.
  • Taxis

Rates are fixed and quite reasonable. Book them at your hotel reception to ensure reliability.
