Luxury holidays in Seine-et-Marne

A vast swathe of eastern Île-de-France that dwarfs Paris in size, Seine-et-Marne is a rural department of fertile plains and forests fed by its namesake rivers, yet still within easy reach of the capital. Storied villages and ornate châteaux dot the countryside. And no exploration of its pastoral pleasures is complete without a slab of aged Brie de Meaux to take home.

When to go

Seine-et-Marne is at its sunniest during the summer months and, unlike some of its more southerly sister regions, doesn’t suffer from overcrowding, making June to September an excellent time to visit.

Paris’ Charles –de Gaulle and Orly airports are the closest international hubs to Seine-et-Marne.
