Luxury holidays in Hauts-de-Seine
Mighty Versailles rules in this westerly stretch of Île-de-France, just outside Paris. The 17th-century palaces and immaculately groomed, fountain-dotted gardens are worthy of a dedicated day trip. Beyond Versailles, however, Hauts-de-Seine has further rural and cultural charms of its own. Forerunner to the Impressionists, Camille Corot, has a rich heritage to explore in leafy Ville-d’Avray, and Saint-Cloud’s park and woodlands are a city antidote.
When to go
Hauts-de-Seine is at its driest and warmest from May to September, although spring and autumn sojourns have seasonal charms to offer. And indoorsy types will enjoy the cosy, culinary trappings of a January or February stay.
