Luxury holidays in Guainville
Set just a 90-minute drive from Paris, petite commune, Guainville is a lush green tonic to the bustle of the city. It’s largely home to country estates (notably that of the 18th-century Domaine de Primard hotel, but it also has the ruins of a 12th-century castle, which overlooks the Royal Valley of the Eure. Set in the Eure-et-Loir department, it’s closer to the Eure waterway, but well placed for exploring the area’s many historic châteaux.
When to go
As Paris is lovely in the springtime, so too is Guainville; but the area’s outdoorsy lures make the summer months all the more appealing – and you’re unlikely to encounter many crowds.
