Luxury holidays in Guainville

Set just a 90-minute drive from Paris, petite commune, Guainville is a lush green tonic to the bustle of the city. It’s largely home to country estates (notably that of the 18th-century Domaine de Primard hotel, but it also has the ruins of a 12th-century castle, which overlooks the Royal Valley of the Eure. Set in the Eure-et-Loir department, it’s closer to the Eure waterway, but well placed for exploring the area’s many historic châteaux.

When to go

As Paris is lovely in the springtime, so too is Guainville; but the area’s outdoorsy lures make the summer months all the more appealing – and you’re unlikely to encounter many crowds.

    Fly to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Guainville is an easy 90-minute drive away.
  • Trains

    The closest train station to the hotel is at Bréval, just a 10-minute drive away. It’s easily reached from Paris, arriving direct in 50 minutes from Saint-Lazare.
  • Automobiles

    If you plan to simply wander amid Guainville’s greener bits and dinky villages then you may be able to get away with not having a car. But, this far outside the capital one may come in handy for excursions to the Lore’s historic landmarks. To reach the hotel from Paris, follow the A13.
