    The region is served by Guayaquil Airport (also known as José Joaquín de Olmedo), which is about an hour’s flight from capital Quito. This is also a jumping-off point for touring the Galápagos Islands, just a two-hour flight away.

  • Automobiles

    Self-driving over here requires a slightly greater degree of confidence, but can be done – if leaving the city limits, watch out for lesser-maintained rustic roads and take extra care when driving at night (or avoid where possible).
