Luxury holidays in Kastellorizo

Kastellorizo’s vibrant palette of multicoloured houses and red roofs is a stark contrast to the rest of whitewashed Greece, and the surrounding sapphire sea is just as striking. This idyllic island has a layered history and sits in one of Greece’s more far-flung corners, mere miles from Turkey. Kastellorizo is more rustic than some of its sister islands: swim in rocky inlets or dive off bobbing bathing platforms, and with few cars here, your daily step count will skyrocket as you mosey from monastery to mosque, climb cliffs and into caves, and amble through the twinkling harbour at night.

Getting there

  • Planes

Fly into Rhodes International Airport, then catch a 40-minute connecting flight or four-and-a-half hour ferry to the island. You can also fly to Kas and take a 30-minute ferry to Kastellorizo (called Meis, in Turkish). Ferries only run on specific days so make sure to check before booking flights.
  • Automobiles

With only one road running through the small island, a car really isn’t necessary; explore by foot instead.
