When to go

If you like your Pyrenees covered in snow, time your visit between November and March. During the summer, temperatures peak in the mid-20s.

Getting there

• Planes

  Zaragoza has an airport but Ryanair only flies in one direction (from Spain to Stansted). Another option is to land in Biarritz over the French border and hire a car for the two-and-a-half-hour drive south.

• Automobiles

  Since its station is a key part of the attraction, cars are considered a lesser mode of transport in Canfranc – but one will come in handy for exploring the Aragón Valley and its pretty peaks.
