Luxury holidays in Krabey Island

A 15-minute cruise from Sihanoukville, Krabey Island is a private 30-acre retreat swathed in tropical forest and ringed by unspoiled beaches. The entire island is given over to the Six Senses resort that bears its name, made up of modernist villas hidden between the trees. Despite being a short journey from the mainland, the sense of being removed from the world make it perfectly suited to travellers yearning for that castaway feeling. Leafy trails cross the the interior and snake along the coastline, giving guests free reign over their pint-sized paradise. Kaleidoscopic reefs await swimmers and snorkelers just off shore, and the crystalline water means that kayaking and paddleboarding become a waterborne safari.

When to go

The best time to visit Cambodia’s south coast is between December and April, when there’s less rain and the seas are crystal clear.

Getting there

  • Planes

If you’re coming from outside the country, the best route is often to fly via Ho Chi Minh City, where you can hop on a Cambodia Angkor Air flight to Sihanoukville. It takes around 10 minutes to drive from the airport to the jetty where you’ll board the boat to the island.
  • Boats

The only way to get to the island is by boat – Six Senses have their own vessel to ferry guests from the mainland to the island.
