When to go

To see the waterfalls, rivers and streams in full flow, visit during late May and June during the snowmelt. To avoid the crowds, opt for September and if you hope to see Autumn sweep across the park, you’ll want to visit in October.

Getting there

• Planes

  For international arrivals, fly into San Francisco, a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Yosemite Valley. Fresno International Airport is the closest for domestic touch-downs, two and a half hours from the heart of the park.

• Automobiles

  Cars are welcome at Yosemite, however, parking is limited. Once you’re in the park, you won’t need a car, as an extensive YARTS shuttle service operates within the park boundaries.
