Luxury holidays in Phan Thiet
Famous across Vietnam for its production of nước mắm (fish sauce), natural beauty Phan Thiet has largely managed to slip under the tourist radar. Split north and south of the Ca Ty river, the untouched town boasts long stretches of pristine white sand, a thriving harbour, and plenty of genuine local hospitality. Hit the nearby fish markets for steamed seafood straight off the boats, or tag along in a fisherman’s basket boat for a trip into the bay. In the surrounding area, verdant dragon fruit plantations, rice paddy fields and ancient salt lakes call out for exploring. Golfing addicts can get their fix at renowned Ocean Dunes Golf Club, an 18-hole course with unbeatable views.
When to go
Phan Thiet is in one of the driest areas of Vietnam, making it a year-round beach holiday destination (the risk of rain runs highest in the months of July and August). If you’re keen to try your hand at kite surfing, book your trip in the windy months of November to March.
