When to go

December to April is your best bet for the balmiest weather, but go in rainy season (from June to November) for quieter sunny days scattered with showers. You might want to avoid September and October, when the chance of hurricanes is highest.

  It’s about an hour and a half by car from Grantley Adams International Airport. Fly there direct from London, Manchester, Frankfurt, and several US and Caribbean cities.

• Automobiles

  You’ll need your driving licence and a hire car to explore the rest of the island. If you plan on staying put, taxis are available at the airport – check for the yellow sticker on the side of the cab before hopping in.
