When to go

April and May are the sweet spot for Attard, when the citrus trees are in bloom and San Anton Gardens at their greenest. June to August is best for beach days and boat trips but tend to bring crowds and high heat.

Getting there

• Planes

  Malta International Airport is around 20 minutes from Attard by car.

• Boats

  Ċirkewwa, at Malta's northern tip, has ferries across to neighbouring islands Gozo and Comino. You can also get to the former from Valletta’s waterfront, and longer-distance routes over to Sicily leave from Grand Harbour.

• Automobiles

  Taxis in Malta are fairly affordable and with narrow roads and heavy traffic, a car certainly isn’t essential. That said, if you do have wheels with you, there’s a fair amount of street parking around Attard and you’ll have easier access to the coast.
