Le Sarrail is a trio of houses set in the countryside of Southern France, beautifully backed by mountains and vineyards. The husband and wife who have only recently converted them have applied an edginess and an attention to detail rarely visible in such affordable self-catering properties geared to young families.

Becky has scoured flea markets for unique furnishings to finesse the hip-but-homely 'retro luxe' that sees a smattering of 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s influences. The end result is entirely 21st century. Design aficionados will spy furniture by Paul Tuttle, Marcel Breuer's Cesca Chairs and lighting by Mathieu Matégot. An inspired but practical blend of iconic mid-century pieces and brocante finds, it is effortlessly cool but utterly comfortable.
