Style Rustic deluxe modern farmhouse
Setting Bougainvillea-filled Santa Maria jardíns
Traditional stone walls and polished oak floors create a striking rustic backdrop to luxurious, eclectic furnishings in this modern Mallorcan farmhouse. Homely yet style-drenched design that blends shiny glass and reclaimed iron as well as sumptuous velvets and carved wood, topped off with Philippe Starck-esque embellishments. Engulfed by glorious bougainvillea-studded gardens, this Bali-meets-Baleares bolthole includes a barbecue-boasting alfresco bar and kitchen. Five minutes from Santa Maria, just north of Palma, a stunning water feature which doubles as a unique rock-studded pool means guests can happily eschew the beach in favour of these pretty foliage-filled grounds.

Bedrooms
Bedroom 1: This king double is bright and spacious, with large mirrored wardrobes providing plenty of storage space and views of the garden, it has an en-suite wet room where one can stand under an enormous shower head surrounded by slate tiles
Bedroom 2: This twin just off of the master bedroom has two single beds and would be perfect for small children, particularly as the décor is a little more plain than the double rooms. You can enter through the master or from a door at the front of the property. There is a shared bathroom with a toilet, shower and sink. There’s also another tiny room off here which would be perfect for a nanny or a cot.
Bedroom 3: On the first floor is a fabulous double bedroom overlooking the garden below. Its adjoining glass-fronted bathroom has a freestanding tub and shower.
Bedroom 4: There is a double bedroom separate to the main house which feels like a private guesthouse, accessed from the garden up its own flight of stairs. It has an impressive ensuite slate toilet with a wet room and views of the garden, swimming pool and surrounding countryside.
Bedroom 5: This is usually the office overlooking the lounge but it has a magnificent Balinese double bed; access is through another bedroom and shares their bathroom. This would have to be the room for whoever is last to bed first to rise and someone who’s comfortable tiptoeing through their neighbour’s room if they need the loo in the night. -
Kitchen
This fully equipped contemporary kitchen has been designed cleverly as the hub of this sociable house, flowing through to the dining room, opening out onto the front garden, and with great views of the rock pool. Sleek, spacious and bright, there are gas hobs, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and plenty of central worktop space for meal preparations and for snacking at the counter. -
Living room
Through the stone arches of the dining room you’ll find a cosy lounge dominated by a huge open fireplace and beautifully upholstered antique sofas. A glass chandelier injects added boutique hotel-style personality into this grand but homely abode. A flatscreen TV and Bose speakers give the villa added audio-visual gravitas. -
Dining room
Just off the kitchen, a huge bespoke glass dining table seats eight on Indonesian chairs and in a room that opens out into the lounge. A custom-built iron staircase leads to two bedrooms above. -
Poolside
The swimming pool looks more like a natural rock pool with trickling water. Fantastic for families, there’s a shallow edge perfect for teaching less confident little ones to swim. The loungers on the terrace can be sun-catching or shaded. -
Gardens
Palm trees, evergreens and brightly petalled flowers have been beautifully landscaped to complement the sprawling lawn that leads your eyes to a mountainscape far in the distance. -
