The Guestbook
White-on-white is difficult to pull off in anything other than perfect surfaces and at Townhouse there are flaws, but unless you are an interior designer, the odd bit of missing grouting or greying paint feels OK with the tropical climate. Massive ferns on the ground floor where they have lounging and breakfast makes it feel very fresh – this is reflected in the big bowls of very green apples on the tables in the morning. A touch tired in the decor and corridor carpets, but this is still value for money – well placed for sandy beaches, a fair stroll to shopping and Deco sightseeing around Lincoln Road Mall. Just a taxi ride from mainline attractions. Be aware that the roof terrace is only open at weekends.

Hire one of their red and white bikes and go along the boardwalk down to the end of South beach and watch the cruise liners go by. Bliss. Stop off at 670 Lincoln Road for an ice-cream at Gelateria Parmalat and a chance to watch the roller bladers strut their stuff on the way back. Drinks at the Delano followed by dinner just up the road at Ago in the shore club (co-founded with Robery De Niro) overlooking the pool and beach beyond was initially noisy (poolside party) but that soon stopped and the creative tuscan fare was delightful with excellent and attentive service and a good list of grappa to finish.

We can highly recommend AGO, the Italian restaurant in the nearby Shore Club (+1 305 695 3226). Both the food and service were excellent. A few post-dinner cocktails in Skybar (also part of Shore Club) makes for a great evening.

What a fantastic hotel! Make sure you make use of the roof terrace which is a great sun trap as well as a perfect place for drinks on a Friday evening.
Check out Fly Boutique on Lincoln Road near the hotel – perfect for fantastic vintage finds! Would also recommend checking out Nobu – situated right next to the hotel at the Shore Club – amazing!
