Local restaurants

Owned by English chef Chris Wright, Le Timbre (3 rue Sainte Beuve; +33 (0)1 45 49 10 40) is a small and cosy restaurant that offers classic French dishes and wine. A favourite of Hemingway, after whom its bar is named, La Closerie des Lilas (171 boulevard du Montparnasse; +33 (0)1 44 27 00 30) is one of the city’s most legendary brasseries. Another Parisian favourite is the fish and seafood specialist Le Dôme (108 boulevard du Montparnasse; +33 (0)1 43 35 25 81), which ha long been frequented by Left Bank intellectuals. For super-fine dining, head to three Michelin-starred chef Guy Martin’s Le Sensing (19 rue Brea; +33 (0)1 43 27 08 80), and for one of the city’s best selections of wine, try traditional French restaurant Le Parc aux Cerfs (50 rue Vavin; +33 (0)1 43 54 87 83).
