The Guestbook

Excellent, stylish and modern hotel. Very relaxed atmosphere and the staff were professional. The food was first rate.

Make sure you book a table for breakfast – this is a great place to hang out with the Sunday papers (most of the local residents seem to think so too!) The hotel was very accommodating and found us a table for an hour, but if you want to relax, book in advance!

We stayed at High Road House twice in 2009. Once as a weekday get-away, just before my husband left for a posting overseas and as a treat to ourselves when we got married. We enjoyed an amazing dinner the night before, a gorgeous breakfast the next morning (when I discovered that HRH makes the best hot chocolate I've ever had) and returned to find a bottle of champagne waiting for us to celebrate our nuptials when we finally made it back after the wedding. All the staff were incredibly helpful and the setting is amazing. Everything is thought through so well, including the location, the amenities and the luscious Cowshed smellies! I'm far away from Chiswick at the moment, but High Road House is definitely on my list of must visit places (even if it's just for the hot chocolate!) as soon as I return.

Heavenly High Road House is the perfect location for London lovers who hate the hustle, bustle and city centigrades. We spent a fabulous weekend using Chiswick as our base to reach the wonderful Bliss spa, only a mile or so away at 60 Sloane Avenue (+44 (0)20 7584 3888), and beautiful Kensington Palace (http://www.hrp.org.uk/) where we lunched in the laid back Orangery. What a place to while the afternoon away! Be sure to get there early for lunch though, as the queues become quite ridiculous from about 1pm. Great food, good wine and my purse didn't take a huge hit either. An excellent weekend get away all round!

I had the room in the picture – all white with a lovely roll-top bath in the room – everything was lovely, including my room service, which was reasonably priced and very delicious and having proper Sky TV (instead of a few select channels) was a nice suprise. Had a wonderful stay, two minutes from Turnham Green tube, easy to get to. I was travelling with business but would use this hotel again without question.

If you're going to High Road House, you have to drop into Foubert's ice cream parlour (+44 (0)20 8995674), which is just around the corner; you'll pass it if you're coming from the tube station. Even in winter, grab a booth and a coffee and you can choose from about 25 flavours of gorgeous Italian ice cream. As a concession to the season, we had apple pie flavour! Fantastic!

We had a nice, peaceful and comfortable room, despite being located above the busy high street. Unobtrusive staff and good food.
