The Guestbook
If you love seafood, you should definitely visit The Sardine Room (31 Challis Avenue, Potts Point, (02) 9357 7444), just a short walk from the Diamant. It's a tiny place with about half of the tables on the footpath – don't worry, there are heaters and blankets for your knees if it's cold – and the owner Angela is warm, gregarious and a fantastic host. The two signature dishes are the salt and pepper squid and seafood pie. The pie, especially, was amazing – rich and sublime. Friends who live in the area recommended it, and I'm so glad they did.

Check out possibly the best cocktail bar around: Eau-de-Vie, a small speakeasy located at the back of the nearby Kirketon Hotel at 229 Darlinghurst Road. There is nothing on the street to show evidence that the bar exists, and the very discreet entrance is found only by wandering through the entrance lobby of the Kirketon. Great, attentive staff, and a fantastic array of amazing cocktails. Not to be missed.
