‘A fantastic place. We loved having breakfast brought to our door’

Smith tip

Fool people you’re Cornish with this local locution:

‘Kernow’ = Cornwall

‘Mouzel’ = Mousehole

‘Wazzon’ = How are you, what are you up to?’

‘Proper job’ = No problem

'Emmets' = Tourists

Coves and caves

Stuffed with over-sized white lilies and sharp minimalist design pieces, this boutique apart-hotel in Cornwall couldn’t feel further from all the stereotypical self-catering clichés. A collection of 13 self-sufficient apartments – with the benefit of a first-class restaurant, terrace bar and outdoor pool, The Cove offers a laid-back boutique experience, but with the option to go solo too. Perfect for groups of friends, family and couples alike, this is pure self-indulgent self-catering; seclusion with service.
