Best beaches

You're only a trot down the cliffside to the intimate beach of Cala Carbo which is not only a pretty swathe of sand but it also has two decent restaurants.

Shopping

There's a Spar up the road for basic provisions; for anything a little more ambitious you'll have to wend your way through the winding mountain road to the big supermarket in San Josep. The shop that steals the headlines around here though isn't anything as humdrum as a grocery store – the owners of the villa have an acclaimed interiors shop called Ksar which sells their hand-sourced global furnishings (twig-framed mirrors, Ganesh statues, embroidered Indian drapes) as well as bespoke bathroom fittings as well as stylish bags and other accessories (www.ksarliving.com).

Cala Carbo Restaurant

This eatery on the sand is the perfect spot for a lazy seafood lunch. Paella on a Sunday is ideal, but you'll definitely need to book a table as it's also popular with locals.

When it comes to the double whammy of delicious seafood and an eye-popping view, Es Boldado has pole position on a clifftop overlooking mystical Es Vedra. Definitely try and book a table outside for lunch. And practise your off-road manoeuvring before you tackle the rocky dirt track that takes you to this view-winning restaurant.
