Can Alaya

Ibiza, Balearic Islands, Spain[view map]

Walls are washed white or a cool beige limestone; floors are grey/beige matt marble, pebbled or polished concrete. The bathrooms are a chic beige or grey marble, or Moroccan-style tadelakt render, with oversized showerheads and freestanding stone bath tubs.

Interior

Bedrooms

Ground floor
One: a four-poster ensuite with a bath and a separate loo and shower, as well as a view down across the pool to the sea and its own small terrace.
Two: a small twin, with a bathroom across the hall.
Three: a separate annexe bedroom.

Upstairs
Master bedroom with an incredible alfresco stone bath on the balcony.

Kitchen
The galley kitchen can keep a chef hidden away. A utility room off the kitchen takes care of most of your mod cons.
Living room
There are all sorts of cosy nooks to loaf around in, indoor and out. Downstairs, there’s an open-plan lounge with a huge working fireplace; this opens out onto the terrace and has a round dining table for eight. Upstairs is another lounge with an Indonesian day bed and sofa plus a balcony.
Dining room
See living room; there are also two different tables that can seat eight people each by both pool areas.

Outdoor

Gardens
Framed by orange trees, blossom in spring and miles of greenery below, the walled outdoor space has a gazebo and banquette seating galore.
Poolside
One pool is a cool bean shape, the other is a 16-metre-long infinity number, and because there are two you can always be sure to find a spot where you can soak up some of that sun on the wooden decking.
Parking
There is space inside the gate for two small cars.
Other
Even though this villa is at the end of a residential cul de sac, there's no other neighbour in sight from any of the terraces or the house itself.
