Pocket-sprung king-size double beds (with pull-out options for extra guests), made-to-order cupboards, bathrobes, Egyptian cotton linens, sleek satin furnishings and super-plump pillows. All bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom, and you might find an extra loo behind mystery closed doors.
- Kitchen Top-of-the-range appliances that will make you want to get cooking. Joseph & Joseph cookware in the shape of sleek plastics. You’ll also find Bettys tea and coffee ready for a brew-on-arrival.
- Living room Two sofas angled towards a plasma TV and a coffee table offering design or cookery books. Oak or walnut floors and local photography or artwork on the walls.
- Dining room There’s plenty of room to sit around and enjoy whatever you’ve whipped up in the kitchen – four seats around a circular table, usually looking out to the windows. Glossy glass and wood surfaces, squashy sofas and thick rugs add up to a stylishly comfortable space.
- Gardens Neat and spacious lawn behind the house, with the Yorkshire moors in the distance. A communal yurt for summer socialising may be coming soon.
- Private parking There’s a roomy gravel driveway to pull into and park for free.

Eating and drinking
You can request a Bettys Hamper for breakfast (free for Smith members), containing croissants, muffins, jam and butter. A pint of milk and bottled water are also supplied but you’ll need to stock up on any other provisions yourself.
Housekeeping
One visit per five-night stay; extra visits in between can be arranged for a fee.
Entertainment
Each apartment has plasma TVs, PlayStations (games and Blu-Ray DVDs available to hire from the main reception at mother property, the Lawrance Kings Road), iPod docking stations and Freeview channels.

Packing tips
Swimwear for the spa, and sensible shoes for the hilly city streets. Trousers with some give in the waistband for all those cream teas.
