BSP is stunning. We were given an upgrade from a junior suite to a suite which was lovely and totally unexpected, and our suite was beautiful. The decor of the hotel as a whole was stylish, yet not overstyled, and it was hard not to take photographs of absolutely everything. The staff were friendly, professional and attentive. The food was excellent, as was the wine -the wine bible is incredibly impressive. The only drawback is if you don't have a car it's easy to feel a little cutoff from the outside world, but perhaps some people don't mind that. I would definitely recommend staying at BSP but definitely to rent a car whilst you are there.

This hotel was stunning. Beautiful grounds, spacious, tastefully decorated rooms and personable, welcoming staff. Would recommend Borgo to anyone travelling to Tuscany. It really made our honeymoon so special. Also, the restaurant has fantastic food.

All the reviews for this hotel I have read were excellent and it certainly didn't disappoint. My husband spent four sessions, over two days, in the kitchen with the excellent chef and we had a very enjoyable wine tasting with the sommelier. I took advantage of the spa which was beautiful, like everything else. The attention to detail is exquisite, from chocolate-dipped strawberries on arrival, to the rugs provided for chilly spring evenings. It is the perfect place to relax and we didn't venture out much, apart from a trip to La Filanda Enoteca (www.lafilanda.biz), in the local village Manciano. Specialising in Tuscan wines, the owner and his Lancastrian wife made us very welcome. The food was simple and delicious and the wine was delightful – I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying at Borgo Santo Pietro.

Well, what can you say about the Borgo other than it is pure luxury. We spent 11 days here at the end of our Italian honeymoon and ate and drank and relaxed in the most beautiful surroundings. To work off the amazing food we played tennis, took a bike ride, strolled around the extensive gardens (but then found ourselves eating strawberries in the vegetable garden) and then strolled some more back to the pool to cool down with a nice cocktail. We stayed in the Via del Pelligrino suite which was amazing. The roll-top bath sits proud, next to a window overlooking the amazing Tuscan countryside. The TV is discretely hidden behind a lovely painting and the room has everything you need, from an iPod dock, to a fridge, to a library of holiday books just outside the door. Food and drink here is expensive, but very good and the service from Richard (the head chef), Miercole (the sommelier) and the whole team is just superb. A great team that make a lovely treat or special break.

Wow – where do you start with this hotel? To call Borgo Santo Pietro just a hotel does it an injustice, as it is more of a luxurious country retreat set in beautiful Tuscan surroundings, with all the benefits of a first-class hotel. The food, service, friendly owners and especially the staff are first class. You can chill out each day by the infinity pool or go exploring around Tuscany – choose either and you will not be disappointed.

We arrived at Borgo Santo Pietro on a dark rainy Friday afternoon, to be met in the car park by the receptionist with umbrellas and help to carry our bags. A huge log fire greated us as we stepped into the open reception room and we were quickly shown our room and brought a very welcome cup of tea with some biscotti. This very warm welcome set the tone for the time we spent in this truly lovely place. Fortunately the sun came out to play the next day and we were able to venture forth.

Two recommendations: The walk along the woodland path to San Galgano is well worth the time and effort and if you can then walk on up the hill to the little chapel where the sword is pushed into the rock, it completes the story, and offers wonderful views. If you have the opportunity to visit one of the many wineries in the area (the hotel will advise) then do so.  We had a wonderful stay at Borgo Santo Pietro and the staff truly cannot do enough to make your stay there magical.
