We highly recommend The Oyster Shack at Bigbury-on-Sea, Devon. We went via this restaurant for lunch on our way home from Hotel Tresanton and it's fabulous. It's out of the way down a small road that you wouldn't find unless you were looking, but nevertheless it was packed by people who sounded like they came time and time again, recommending it to friends and family. Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic fresh seafood. It's best on a hot sunny day when you can sit outside under the shade of a large sail – the experience would probably be somewhat less unique if sat inside, but still the fresh seafood, friendly staff and laid-back atmosphere make this a really happy experience. (There's also an Oyster Shack in Salcombe but we haven't been to this one).
Hi, we tried the Victory Inn in St Mawes, the food was excellent, locally sourced and well proportioned and presented. As we were in St Mawes we went in to the pub to book, don't be put off by first appearance; the area with tables on the first floor is not the restaurant, that's upstairs and entirely different. There is also a small terrace with good view of the harbour – if weather permits a table outside would be lovely.
