Byron Bay Villa
Style Boho deluxe
Setting Above Wategos Beach
The grey concrete exterior may feel imposing at first glance, but inside Byron Bay Villa offers warmth, comfort and quirky charm. With open-plan living areas on the upper floor, flowing through full-length glass doors onto a spacious deck, the views over the Pacific Ocean are unsurpassed – you can even see dolphins and migrating whales. Crisp white-on-white decor is accented with splashes of bright or pastel hues, and there’s a touch of glamour at this seaside santuary. Sofas are upholstered in Kenzo fabric, retro Hawaiian-style prints adorn the interior and a mirror-bedecked wall reflects the palm trees and vivid blue sky. Downstairs, a wet-edge lap pool and spa overlook Wategos Beach (a favourite with both locals and visitors), which is a few minutes' walk away. It's also just a short meander into the centre of Byron Bay with its stylish shops, cafés, restaurants and bars.

Bedrooms
Byron Bay Villa offers four bedrooms, sleeping a maximum of eight guests, including one king-size bedroom with ensuite upstairs, and two queen-size and one twin room on the ground floor.
Ground floor, queen-size bedrooms 1 and 2: located at the two front corners of the villa, with sea views, these two downstairs bedrooms are identical. Both feature white walls, wood-panelled floors and pale fabrics, with hits of colour provided by vibrant cushions and accessories.
Ground floor, twin bedroom 3: with similar decor to the other two downstairs bedrooms, this room includes two single beds, ideal for children. Although there's no sea view from this room, there's a bamboo-filled courtyard just outside. Downstairs rooms all share the same bathroom, located on this level, with its clean and simple design.
Upstairs, master bedroom 4: the spacious master bedroom and its ensuite bathroom open onto a private deck with spectacular views. It has a king-size bed and is clean-lined, white and pared back, with huge windows ensuring maximum daylight. The powder room and oval freestanding bath in the large ensuite are kept light and airy by domed skylights, and are divided from the bedroom by a Balinese-style carved screen, which filters the light and casts dappled shadows. Beyond the huge central bath tub are a shower and toilet. - Kitchen Located at one end of the open-plan living area, this all-white design is clean and uncluttered in keeping with the house’s aesthetic. Essentials, such as tea, coffee and sugar, are supplied in the pantry.
- Living room Light and breezy, this upstairs space offers a calm and welcoming respite from the direct sun on the deck. Two large sofas, upholstered in Kenzo fabric and dotted with cushions, are arranged at right angles in front of the large, wall-mounted plasma TV and gas fireplace. A large mirror on the back wall reflects the turquoise ocean and clear skies. Full-length glass doors in this space, which also includes the kitchen and dining room, open out on to the deck.
- Dining room A long modern table situated adjacent to the kitchen seats eight guests. There is also an outdoor table and chairs on the deck.
- Poolside The wet-edge lap pool and spa are surrounded by a glass fence, so as not to spoil the view over the ocean. Indian day-beds are located back from the pool and in the shade of the upstairs balcony.
- Gardens The house itself is almost surrounded on three sides by a thick palm jungle and nature reserve. Outdoor living at its finest is enjoyed on the two deck areas: upstairs there is an outdoor dining setting and sunloungers; downstairs has a selection of day-beds overlooking the wet-edge lap pool and ocean.
- Private parking There is space for two cars in the driveway at the bottom of the stairs.
