Mr & Mrs Smith

We've been to the George & Dragon in Burpham, near Arundel, a number of times over the years, but not recently. It just keeps getting better. Very accommodating and attentive staff, excellent menu and food to match, good wines, good atmosphere and good position (a little village well off the beaten track – you'd need to know it was there). Clearly a favourite for many who've found it. We neglected to book for a Saturday lunch, got there early, and all inside tables were taken or reserved. Luckily, they managed to squeeze us in. (It's nice outside too, but a bit chilly on that day.) I hesitate to mention that the following day, we went to the Black Rabbit at Arundel, as we had been recommended it. Quite the opposite experience – not to our taste. Ok for a family-friendly riverside experience, but understaffed and poor food. We wished we'd stayed in for the light lunch at Amberley Castle.
