Despite its serious architectural credentials, contemporary design-piece the Turiya is built for play. Its modish façade, curving caramel staircase, and Seventies-inspired sunken seating areas may be first to draw your attention, but its central pool, rooftop terraces, and sultry cinema room reaffirm that entertainment is in heady supply at this six-bedroom riad-inspired residence (with Moroccan flourishes, too), and uninterrupted by the domestic load thanks to a resident chef and service team. The overall effect is a hedonists’ hideout that easily competes with the surfside charms of its locale between Canggu and Seminyak.

  • This is a fully serviced retreat: a dedicated manager is at your beck and call, and there’s daily housekeeping, an overnight security guard and an in-house chef.
  • This split-level villa is shaped like a horseshoe around a long, lap-worthy pool. The indoor-outdoor spaces are decorated in tones and textures inspired by Bali’s beautiful landscapes – muted hues, lime-washed walls, wooden ceilings and deep green details.
  • A statement spiral staircase separates the cosy sunken seating area from the open-plan kitchen, which has a dining table that seats up to 10 guests. There are two additional kitchens – one is on the rooftop terrace, the other is a fully equipped commercial kitchen, managed by a private chef.
  • There is a jade marble bathroom downstairs, next to the kitchen.
  • The villa isn’t just designed for sociable adult stays – little Smiths are very welcome and the concierge can arrange family-friendly activities and babysitting.
  • There is a cinema room upstairs which has Moroccan-esque interiors – a plush pink sofa lines one corner of the room, and there are glass lanterns, vibrant rugs, and a shisha pipe. A smart projector, three-metre screen and Sonos sound system complete the set-up, and the space can also be used as a playroom.
  • Breakfast is included in your stay – a Continental or Indonesian spread can be served to your room, on the rooftop or by the pool.
  • Room service is available between 8am and 8pm.

  • The villa has six spacious bedrooms, including one master suite. They are sleek and sultry, styled with dark hues and brass accents.
  • Canopy-style drapes frame each bed; four rooms feature king-size beds, two have double beds.
  • Bedrooms two and three have direct access to the pool; the rest of the rooms have a pool-facing balcony.
  • There are blackout curtains, a spacious wardrobe, a desk, a smart TV and air-conditioning in every bedroom.
  • Each room has an ensuite bathroom with a marble double sink and walk-in rain shower; they all have a freestanding bath tub too (except for bedroom five).

  • Palm-shaded rattan sunloungers line one end of the pool; a wet bar and sunken lounge area flank another side.

  • There are two 150-square-metre terraces on the rooftop, connected by a walkway. One has an outdoor kitchen, bar, pool table and seating area; the other is dedicated to yoga and fitness (instructors can be arranged on request).
  • There is space for one car and several motorcycles at Turiya.

  • The Turiya is perfectly positioned between Canggu and Seminyak; both are a 15-minute drive away.
  • I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is a 45-minute drive from the villa. A one-way airport transfer is included in your stay; rates for additional journeys are provided on request.
  • Denpasar is a 30-minute drive; Ubud is closer to an hour away.
  • Batu Belig beach is a 10-minute walk from the villa; here, beach clubs dot the shoreline. You may prefer to drive to Finns Beach Club or Potato Head – both are under 15 minutes’ away by car.
