  • Soori Bali is on the unspoilt south-west coast of the Indonesian island, with a backdrop of terraced rice fields and the volcanic Mount Batukaru looming in the distance.
  • Ngurah Rai International Airport (www.baliairport.com) is a 90-minute drive to the south, just beyond the capital city, Denpasar. There are direct flights to and from lots of major cities in Europe and Asia, including Emirates from the Middle East, Qantas from Australia, and Singapore Airlines from, er, Singapore.
  • The hotel offers free airport transfers by car; if you prefer a chopper, there’s a helipad next to the villa. You can hire a car at the airport, but you might be better off letting someone else weave in and out of the bumps and potholes – a private driver is around US$30 a day.
  • The Leisure Concierge staff know exactly what’s what in the local area – just ask them if you’d like to arrange tours to temples, markets and more around the Tabanan Regency.
