Luxury holidays in Sharjah

Sharjah, Dubai’s northern neighbour in the United Arab Emirates, is a coastal city that serves up a slice of classic Emirati heritage. Its old town is awash in galleries, souks and museums. Beyond the city limits, desert adventures, mountain hikes and Bedouin camps are set to enchant.

When to go

You'll want to avoid the high temperatures of July and August, but otherwise Sharjah is balmy and sun-blessed all year round.

Getting there

  • Planes

Direct flights from Middle Eastern, African and South Asian hubs touch down at Sharjah International Airport. Alternatively, fly to Dubai International Airport, which is a 30-minute drive (traffic allowing) from the city centre.
  • Automobiles

Transfers and taxis may well suffice for exploring this well-connected Emirate. But with Dubai just 30 to 60 minutes’ drive away, depending on traffic, a set of wheels will prove useful for adventures beyond the city limits.
