Luxury and boutique hotels in Windhoek East
A well-heeled neighbourhood of Namibia’s capital Windhoek, in the country’s central highlands, Windhoek East is home to the city’s embassy row, luxury shops and a clutch of boutique hotels. The area’s architecture is a mix of German colonial and modern influences, the city’s vibrant centre is a short drive away and the Namibian Savannah stretches out across the horizon.
When to go
Windhoek’s climate makes it a year-round destination, but its altitude means that nights (and some winter days) can drop into I-wish-I-had-my-thermals territory. It’s warmest (and wettest) from December to March, but pleasant and drier from May to October.
PlanesDirect flights from the United Kingdom, South Africa and select European cities land at Chief Hosea Kutako International Airport; from there, it’s about a 45-minute drive to Windhoek East.
AutomobilesWindhoek is the crossroads of Namibia – the main north–south route (the B1) and east–west routes (B2 and B6) cross there. Roads are clearly signposted and you’ll pass beautiful desert hills on the way into the city.
