When to go

Canggu’s a year-round spot; even during monsoon season (between October and April), the days are likely to be graced by long sunny spells. No hotel check-ins or check-outs are allowed on Nyepi Day (Day of Silence), which falls in March each year – although stays are still possible – and Bali’s airport also closes for the day.

    Ngurah Rai International Airport, just south of capital Denpasar, is an hour away by car.

  • Automobiles

    Tackling Canggu’s bumpy, traffic-thronged roads isn’t for the faint-hearted. If you do want to go exploring independently, make like a local and hop on a scooter (just ask for a helmet and check the tank before setting off).
