Wow factor   The 250-square-metre colonial pavilion, decorated with hand-carved panels and set in lush gardens, is the ideal venue for the ceremony.

Need to know   Stars of screen, sport and catwalk have been married here. 230 guests can be accommodated in spring and autumn; in summer, larger wedding parties can be catered for on the outdoor terraces. The wedding couple stay as guests of the hotel and there are special rates for friends and family. Pre-wedding beauty and relaxation packages are available in the fabulous spa to soothe those pre-nup jitters.

Inspiration   Atzaró can arrange private plane flights around the island, or a luxury motor cruiser to take you for a champagne picnic at a secluded spot on the Ibiza or Formentera coastlines.

Ca's Xorc

Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

Wow factor   The beautiful gardens have far-reaching views across the mountains to the sea.

Need to know   A priest can be arranged for a blessing, but the hotel is not licensed for actual ceremonies. Pay bars are not allowed during a wedding party; the bill has to be settled by one individual only. The hotel accommodates up to 26 adults, and all rooms must be booked for a minimum of two nights by the wedding party. Musician Caroline Corr got married here.

Inspiration   Ca's Xorc has hosted weddings since 2001, with more than a dozen ceremonies set against its beautiful backdrop each year since then. Each wedding is individually tailored and taken care of with extra special care.

Can Simoneta

Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

Wow factor   Sloane Helicopters can whisk you to and from the ceremony.

Need to know   The summer season sees Can Simoneta at its best. The hotel can accommodate 70 wedding guests indoors and 200 outside.

Inspiration   Can Simoneta has handled many weddings, paying great attention to detail every time. The hotel has a beautiful clifftop location overlooking the Mediterranean.

Hospes Palacio de Bailío

Córdoba, Spain

Wow factor   Exchange your vows in leafy orange-grove gardens by the pool, or in the chapel-esque, Moorish-inspired environs of the Castéjon Room.

Need to know   Hospes Palacio del Bailío can deal with all logistical arrangements, such as food, flowers and photography. Avoid the high summer season, when the heat’s most oppressive.

Inspiration   You can hold a wedding banquet in the hotel’s central courtyard, with the glass floor revealing the Roman ruins below.

Hospes Palacio de los Patos

Granada, Spain

Wow factor   The Palacio de los Patos’ grand central staircase offers a to-die-for photo backdrop.

Need to know   Senzone restaurant can accommodate a reception of up to 60 people, but, weather permitting, a cocktail party of up to 150 can be held in a marquee in the hotel gardens. The hotel can assist with all arrangements, including food, photography and entertainment, and will liaise with the town hall to organise legal aspects.

Inspiration   The hotel is the ideal jumping off point for a honeymoon skiing or hiking in the Sierra Nevadas, less than an hour’s drive away.

Hotel V

Cadiz Province, Spain

Wow factor   Hotel V is at the centre of one of southern Spain’s most atmospheric villages, where whitewashed Moorish-style houses line winding streets.

Need to know   The hotel itself is located just 50 metres from Vejer de la Frontera’s church, and can be rented in its entirety. The hotel has its own wedding planner on hand, and can help with all the organisation.

Inspiration   Dinner or a buffet can take place on its beautiful roof terrace, where guests will be treated to views of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains across the water – a stunning backdrop to any wedding photography.

L'Avenida

Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

Wow factor   The beautiful town of Sóller in the Tramuntana mountains sets the perfect scene for an intimate and informal celebration.

Need to know   L’Avenida can arrange a ceremony in a local church (and a priest to conduct it), as well as tapas and cava for the reception and even the symbolic release of doves if you’d like your nuptials to end on an ornithological flourish. The hotel’s closed over winter, but in other seasons you can make use of the stylish dining area (capacity: 30) if the weather is inclement.

Inspiration   Bride and bridesmaids can enjoy spa and massage treatments at the hotel, and golfing trips can also be organised for guests.
