Inspiration   Take your guests on a boat cruise to the Chamela Island nature reserves and treat them to a luxury picnic lunch, or celebrate like a true aristocrat with a polo match on the nearby Bermuda fields.

Verana

Wow factor   Enjoy an intimate ceremony set against the jaw-dropping backdrop of Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Need to know   If you want to have the hotel to yourselves, you’ll need to make sure at least 16 people are staying at the hotel. Weddings at Verana are symbolic, so you’ll have to head elsewhere for a legal marriage or a religious blessing. The hotel can accommodate 35 guests for a ceremony and celebration but can only sleep 23 – staff will help sort out somewhere to stay in Yelapa for any more.

Inspiration   Verana weddings are characterised by warmth and rustic simplicity. Cakes are prepared in the hotel kitchen, flowers are plucked from the surrounding grounds, and music comes courtesy of local musicians.

Manicures, pedicures and entertainment can also be arranged. Rain is a regular occurrence on Koh Samui, but the combination of a marquee and summer scheduling should prevent it spoiling the scene.

Need to know   THEhotel's chapel asks for a $250 deposit on booking and there's a maximum of 10 guests for an outdoor service. THEhotel can arrange a variety of wedding packages including dinner, accommodation and a customised ceremony.

Inspiration   With acres of urban beach on the doorstep, your guests will be able to soak up the sun in near-tropical conditions – while you treat yourself to a full-works treatment in the gorgeous spa.

Need to know   The hotel can host events of any size in its grounds, and will also help with any wedding arrangements.
