The Balé

Wow factor   Friendly and efficient staff will arrange everything from bands and DJs to cabaret shows and limousine transfers for your guests. In short, a wedding here will run as smooth as engine oil, and you’re guaranteed a beautiful, laid-back environment for your nuptials.

Need to know   Though the resort can only have 58 people staying at one time, The Balé can organise a reception for up to 100. Leave the children at home, though, the resort won’t admit under-16s.

Amankila

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   Walk down a candlelit natural aisle to a coconut grove just footsteps away from the beach.

Need to know   Up to 78 people can be accommodated in the resort, although the reception could extend to 100. Wedding couples are required to stay a minimum of two nights at Amankila. Try to book between April and October to get the best weather, but also bear in mind that July to September is the busiest time for the hotel.

Inspiration   Amankila can arrange traditional Balinese dancers to perform at the reception, to the music of a gamelan orchestra.

Uma Ubud

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   Guests will gawp at the plunging valley views as you exchange vows in a stunning tropical forest setting.

Need to know   You’ll have to book all Uma Ubud’s 29 rooms to hold a wedding here. 80 people can fit into Kemiri for a sit-down dinner, but if you need to accommodate more, a marquee for up to 150 can be erected on the lawn. The hotel can arrange all aspects of the ceremony, including flowers, photography and cake. Try to book between March and September to avoid the rainy season.

Inspiration   The daily guided walk through the rice paddy fields is perfect for setting you and your guests up for a wedding brunch, and the Como Shambhala spa can provide pre-wedding treatments/nerve soothers as necessary.

Alila Ubud

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   A sweeping backdrop of valley and volcanoes will ensure you have the most envy-arousing weddings snaps imaginable.

Need to know   Alila Ubud has a wide range of possible ceremony venues, each one combining indoor and outdoor space and staff will tailor-make your wedding to suit individual tastes. Although it’s warm all year, Bali is driest in September, so that’s the month to book.

Inspiration   The Alila spa’s range of massage and beauty treatments is great both for treating bridesmaids and soothing any nervy pre-wedding jangles.

Waka Gangga

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   The setting: exchange your vows as the sun sets on the rice fields , then enjoy a moonlit reception under a cloudless, star-spangled sky.

Need to know   Waka Gangga can provide marquees throughout the year, but it’s best to go for the periods between April and October to avoid the chance of rain. Avoid August when the resort is at its busiest. As well as providing for all aspects of the ceremony, the hotel will give the happy couple a free massage before the ceremony, a floral bath, and a champagne-and-chocolate breakfast in your villa.

Inspiration   It’s a small resort, so book all 12 villas and have Waka Gangga as a private hotel, just for you and up to 28 guests.

Kayumanis Ubud

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   The nine private villas offer intimacy, seclusion and stunning architecture within a lush tropical garden setting, topped off with dose of flawless Balinese hospitality.

Need to know   It’s a small resort so numbers will be limited. But if you’re after an intimate ceremony and celebration with just a few close friends, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more appealing venue. The hotel liaises with a licensed wedding coordinator to arrange the legal aspects, and can organise a tailor-made service and menus according to your wishes. Note that Kayumanis Ubud can only accommodate over-16s.

Inspiration   The day before or morning after the wedding, take your guests for a picnic brunch in Buahan village where they can enjoy fabulous food and sweeping Ayung river valley views.

Kayumanis Jimbaran

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   Exchange your vows in an appropriately dramatic setting: beneath towering coconut palms in an intimate atmosphere of absolute peace.

Need to know   Kayumanis Jimbaran coordinates with a licensed wedding organiser to arrange the logistics and the resort staff can tailor photography, cake, flowers, etc. to suit your nuptial needs. The Tapis restaurant can accommodate 20 people for a sit-down meal.

Inspiration   Treat your guests to a fishing trip, a cooking lesson, or a soothing spa treatment.

Amanusa

Bali, Indonesia

Wow factor   Amanusa’s white-powder beach provides an idyllic ‘desert island’ setting.

Need to know   Couples getting married at Amanusa have to stay a minimum of two nights. The hotel can provide a Balinese or Western-style ceremony but the legal brouhaha has to be dealt with through the Government registry. Larger wedding parties should aim to book the entire resort in June –September.

Inspiration   The golf course next door is the ideal stag event diversion, while hens may prefer leaving themselves in the hands of Amanusa’s expert masseuses.
