Great stay. Mr & Mrs Smith got us a great deal and a good room. The hotel is very hip, and although it is a Travelodge with a great bed and some imaginative design, you don’t feel ripped off or in any way disappointed. Great location on the strip. Parking is $30 per day (that is never mentioned) and the nightclub is obviously not hip anymore. Midnight on a Friday, it was filled with 40 year old men with medallions, but the dinner was superb. Woman in a glass cage in her undies behind the bar was art, although she was on her laptop the whole time. Pool a little small, but designed to be seen rather than swum in. Would definitely stay again.

Hi Mr&Mrs Smith,
Just spent 3 great nights at The Standard, and overall a really great Hollywood experience. The Standard is a trendy hotel in WeHo, which is a bit of a cool bar district. Had a great breakfast East down Sunset about a 3 minute drive called The Griddle, and would definitely recommend it. Seems like an LA institution, and we went on Friday morning and was quite busy. But Sat and Sun morning we drove past there and looked like it would take you 40mins to get a table.
I would also highly recommend Asia de Cuba, the restaurant in The Mondrian, which is West down Sunset about a 4min walk. We also went to the Skybar for a drink afterwards, which is also in The Mondrian and very cool.
I would highly recommend The Standard for younger couples, like us, or would also be good if you were a young single guy or girl, and wanted to party in LA. It definitely would be a good party base!! Our room was on a lower level facing Sunset which made it kind of noisy on Friday and Saturday nights until all the bars shut at about 230am. As there is a lot of pedestrian noise going to and from bars that would keep you up. I would suggest requesting a higher level, or ideally not facing Sunset at all, but I assume the rooms facing down in to Beverly Hills would be more exxy?!
Food at hotel is good too, we had room service one night, and ate in the bar/diner area downstairs another night. We also went to the bar/club downstairs on a Friday night. I thought it was actually pretty lame, but maybe other nights it is better?!
Hopefully my comments are useful for other members!
