Our trip was fantastic. For a great New York steak, try Morton's, just a couple of blocks down the street. They bring the different types of steak (and a live lobster!) to your table so you know exactly what you're getting. Just perfect.

I'd also recommend hitting the TKTS booth in Times Square for last minute deals on Broadway tickets.

The hotel's perfect location means you have plenty of restaurants to choose from. I would have to recommend Sunday nights at Cafe Wha at 115 MacDougal Street (+1 212 254 3706) for live music. It's a jazz cafe and the band are absolutely amazing – it was by far our best night in New York.

The perfect place to stay if you want to go to the theatre. The View Restaurant (+1 212 704 8900) is a beautiful place to go which is not far away and gives you an amazing view over the city. Not to be missed.

We were initially on a lower floor and mentioned that it was quite noisy. We were immediately moved to a higher floor with a complimentary upgrade. It's worth asking if the hotel isn't full. Also, take advantage of their delicious coffee in the breakfast room, which is available throughout the day. Perfect to warm up when you return from the cold (we stayed in February when it snowed).

Hotel Grace is conveniently located near New York's famous 'restaurant row' (it's about a five-minute walk); 46th street between 8th and 9th Avenue. Restaurant Row is know for the numerous small restaurants catering for the West End shows crowd. Great for when you've landed late in New York and just want to grab a quick eat.

We visited Gordon Ramsay's restaurant at the London Hotel NYC (+1 212 307 5000) and had a fabulous evening and amazing food. It was pretty pricey at £300 for the two of us, but every dish we had was presented beautifully and tasted out of this world. The knock-out dish was the tarte tatin – the best we have ever had!
