We had a wonderful mini honeymoon stay at Romaneira. The location is tucked away in breath-taking surroundings. The remodelled buildings are decorated beautifully, the staff are incredibly attentive and the food is wonderful, you really don’t even need to leave it. If you do however, a little trip to Porto, about an hour away by car, comes highly recommended. It’s a lovely little city and you can walk around most of it in a day or so. If you do go there, several Port merchants will offer you tastings but the Quinta do Noval tasting was particularly informative and tasty, and well worth the time and extremely reasonable price. I would definitely stop there. It was even more satisfying when we later found out that Romaneira and Noval share some of their barrels and vineyards.
